Project Goal
The goalsobjectives of the project were:1) mixture of probiotics in combination with prebiotics and vitamins for the reduction of blood cholesterol levels; selection of a B. reuteri mutant with increased BSHase (Bile Salts Hydrolase) activity.
2) mixture of B. clausii and Lactive, also in combination with plant extracts aimed at dysmetabolism effects; confirmation for animal use in vivo, with positive effect of the mixture, with increased healthiness and weight gain; isolation of mutant resistant to antibiotics.
Project description
Probiotiká's activities were focused on two research lines: the first was the study and characterisation of new pro- and prebiotic products for the control of hypercholesterolaemia, with mixtures of microorganisms with vitamins and prebiotics, as well as the selection of a B. reuteri high-producer of BSHase.The second line of research was aimed at dysmetabolisms, developing a mixture of B. clausii with Lactive and plant extracts.
